Ovum are created in utero, a woman is born with all the eggs she’ll ever have.
Sperm only take 2-3 months to develop.
That doesn’t explain it away.
I’m really angry that I know this, but according to Stephanie Meyer the only reason why Edward was able to have a child was because he was a virgin (and I guess masturbation and nocturnal emissions aren’t a thing for vampires). So he had one last load of child-creating sperm to nut for his 100+ years.
