Made another Strange Magic Mushroom. Shown next to my first one for comparison. I experimented with color and how I did the dots. I fired little dots separate from the cap and sprinkled them over the overglaze. I also carved the ridges into the cap, instead of just painting them on. I liked the darker red better, but I went back to the hand applied dots on the third one I made (not shown). But to get the dots white and the cap red I have to paint it all red then wipe back to white and it never gets back to pure white. Whatever.
Also, The arms fell off as it dried so I had to glue them on afterwards and they don’t lie quite flat.
Not as happy with it as the first but still cute UwU
“Monachopsis” – This piece for me is about many things – individuality, environment, tradition – but ultimately it’s about learning to recognize and listen to that gut feeling inside all of us that helps us know who we truly are.
